Our hearts and prayers are with the people affected by Hurricane Harvey. In times like these, we come alongside local churches and pastors through our relationship with ARC, the amazing organization that helped us launch City Light in 2015. We believe the best way we can help is to equip and empower the ARC churches in the affected areas because they know the people, places, and areas of greatest need better than we do. The churches we partner with also have incredible volunteers who are committed and able to serve their community in both the short- and long-term. These churches offer not only practical help, but the emotional and spiritual care that is desperately needed in the midst of disaster. People will turn and look to God in times like these. Through local churches, they will experience His hands pulling them to safety, His feet pushing through the flood waters to provide relief, and His love creating hope when it is needed most. We believe God is present in this recovery — helping, healing, and working through His people to provide light in a time of darkness.
Many of you have asked how you can help the people of Houston. We are so thankful for your commitment to loving people in need! You are already helping in a major way through your regular giving. City Light has been sending, and will continue to send, resources from our missions budget to local ARC churches in the Houston area on your behalf. If you would like to give more, you can designate an offering through our online giving portal (just select the "Hurricane Harvey Relief" tab instead of General Fund) or give through the Association of Related Churches.
